Little Bennett Elementary School PTA supports and adopts the mission of PTA to strive to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

PTA Values
 

The values of our PTA, in conjunction with our partnership with MCCPTA include:

​

  • Collaboration: We will work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to broaden and enhance our ability to serve and advocate for all children and families.

  • Commitment: We are dedicated to children’s educational success, health, and wellbeing through strong family and community engagement, while remaining accountable to the principles upon which our association was founded.

  • Diversity: We acknowledge the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.

  • Respect: We value the individual contributions of members, employees, volunteers, and partners as we work collaboratively to achieve our association’s goals.

  • Accountability: All members, employees, volunteers, and partners have a shared responsibility to align their efforts toward the achievement of our association’s strategic initiatives.

2022-2023 Advocacy Priorites at LBES

LBES PTA is adopting three major priorities: Triple E’s for Educational Success; Safety and Violence Prevention; and Safe, Supportive and Inclusive Schools.  Within these are focus areas we will target for advocacy, programming, and support.  The priorities and focus areas directly address and support the needs and concerns of our local community while aligning with cluster, county, state and national priorities.

1. Triple E’s of Educational Success (Engagement, Enhancement, and Enrichment)

​

  • Create and support opportunities for family engagement and community building;

  • Ensure implementation of explicit phonics based reading instruction and work with school to engage families on its purpose and provide supports;

  • Encourage implementation of Enriched Literacy Curriculum including teacher training and support;

  • Tutoring

  • Create after-school enrichment opportunities;

  • Encourage and support opportunities for in and out of school field trips and culture activities.

2. Safety and Violence Prevention

​

  • Establish education programs to teach students, parents and community members about gun safety and violence prevention.

  • Support establishing guidelines to provide adequate time during the school day for students to eat and for unstructured recreation.

  • Encourage use of positive behavioral interventions systems and supports that are effective, fair, funded, staffed (as needed) and consistently implemented

  • Support all student and staff mental health and provide and connect students with necessary mental health resources at school and in their community

  • Encourage improved access to and funding for qualified school counselors, school psychologists, school nurses and school social workers

3. Supportive and Inclusive Schools

 

  • Advocate for increased availability of Para-Professionals for K-2 classrooms;

  • Encourage the hiring and retention of Quality Diverse Teachers and Leaders;

  • Encourage tolerance and appreciation of diverse peoples, places and cultures through expanded Geography and Social Studies curricula and enrichment opportunities;

  • Elevate attention of the successes and challenges of our Learning Centers and support the needs of learning challenged students;

  • Create opportunities for exchanging ideas between community and school.
