AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

Enhance Science, Technology & The Arts

This committee works with Enrichment Matters to select after school classes offered to students, advertises classes to families and serves as the contact for parents attending and providers teaching those classes.

BOOK FAIR

Fostering a Love of Reading

This committee coordinates all aspects of the fall and spring books fairs, including creating and distributing flyers to students; advertising throughout school leading up to the event; setting up books and displays; and, volunteering during the book fair weeks to help students find 'just right' books.

FALL FESTIVAL

Celebrating Fall

This committee coordinates the annual fall festival in late September or early October. Members will work with the chair to secure vendors, advertise the event, set-up, run activities and clean up.

FUNDRAISING

Celebrating Our Graduates

This committee coordinates with Mr. Bernstein and the 5th grade team to plan the 5th grade Celebration activities. Committee Members help set up and run the different tables and activities during the celebration and help clean up everything afterwards. 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Serving Local Families

This committee is dedicated to looking for ways to serve local families and individuals who are in need, including identifying and implementing service projects throughout the year for students to participate in that serve the community and the school.

EAGLE HOUR

Parent-Administration Engagement

This committee is dedicated to engaging parents with administration during virtual discussions throughout the year (Oct, Dec, Feb, Apr). The meetings are a great opportunity for informal talk with the Principal and Assistant Principal.

FUNDRAISING

Raising Money to Support our Programs

This committee coordinates several fundraisers throughout the year, including spirit nights at local restaurants, spiritwear and online fundraisers including Box Tops,  Amazon and Harris Teeter.

HOLIDAY MAKE-N-TAKE

Creating Memorable Holiday Gifts

This committee plans and executes the annual holiday crafting event. Members will select and prepare samples of age appropriate craft projects for students to make and give as holiday gifts. During the event, the committee will oversee the craft stations by demonstrating how to make each craft, help students complete the projects and clean up after the event.

KIDS KREATIONS

Transforming Art into Keepsakes

This committee implements the annual Kids Kreations art fundraiser. Committee members label artwork, distribute flyers to classrooms, distribute order forms and distribute products to students.

NAACP Parents' Council

Furthering the Vision of the NAACP

This committee works to further the vision of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People by "ensuring a society in which all individuals have equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination.” Committee members will work with Committee Chair to determine events to promote or organize, including the Black History Month contest. Committee Members will also provide event support at any school based events, as needed.

PASTRIES WITH PARENTS AND THOSE WHO ARE PRECIOUS

Recognizing Parents & Caregivers

This is a two morning event to honor all the parents and caregivers who contribute to our students' success. Committee members set up, serve food and clean up after the event.

SCHOOL DANCE

Grooving with Friends

This committee plans and executes the annual school dance. Committee members work with the Committee Chair to determine the theme; purchase decorations and refreshments; set up, run and clean up event.

SCRIPPS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE

Nationally Recognized Annual
Spelling Bee

This committee coordinates with Scripps and runs all aspects of the Spelling Bee. The committee is responsible for registration, securing space and needed tables, chairs, etc., promoting to students and families, coordinating judges (if needed), setting up, running and cleaning up after the event.

SCIENCE EXPO

Exploring the World of Science

This committee coordinates and runs all aspects of the annual science expo. Committee members work with the Committee Chair to select vendors (if necessary); make copies of flyers; set up, run and clean up after the event.

SPRING SOCIAL

School is Almost Out!

This committee plans a spring family event such as a movie night or ice cream social. Committee members set up tables, materials, and clean up after the event.

STAFF APPRECIATION

Recognizing Our Teachers & Staff

This committee oversees all activities related to recognizing the celebrating our teachers and staff. Committee members determine a calendar for events for the year then work to implement those ideas. This includes providing items for teacher/staff mailboxes, providing food for lunches, snacks and volunteering during staff appreciation week.

TOLERANCE & DIVERSITY APPRECIATION

Promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

This committee plans and executes several events and awareness activities throughout the year recognizing a variety of heritages and promoting diversity and inclusiveness. Participants will receive a patch/pin each year and given a stole at the 5th grade level for their collection

VARIETY SHOW

Celebrating Our Talented Students

This committee plans and executes the annual variety show. Committee members help determine event theme, collect tickets at the door; sell food (if necessary); help with dress rehearsal; and, help set up, run and clean up after event.
